Are you ready for Google Analytics 4?

Google Analytics 4 is here

While Google has delayed the cutoff date of their Universal Analytics multiple times, the date has officially been set. Beginning July 1, 2023, no new data will post to the Universal Analytics account. So if you haven’t set up your GA4 profile yet, we highly recommend you get on it.

Seriously, don't wait any longer

Once Universal Analytics is disabled by Google, you will not have any new data reporting to that property in your analytics account.

Because Google’s new GA4 is a completely different platform your old data will not populate over. This means if you need your historical data you need to start making and downloading the data now. There is mention that December 2023, the Universal Analytics properties will no longer be accessible and if data hasn’t been downloaded, it may be lost.

We’d recommend installing the new GA4 tracking code along side your existing UA tracking code to ensure that you don’t miss out on any data.

Google published an article explaining how to export your current UA data.

Ecommerce: Generate More Revenue This Year

If you want to increase your ecommerce revenue this year, it’s time for some actionable strategies. From optimizing product listings to creating powerful digital marketing campaigns and more, read our guide to take your business to the next level.

Ensure You Have a Mobile-Friendly Design

In today’s digital age, your ecommerce site needs to be optimized for mobile devices. Without a mobile-friendly design, customers are likely to leave and not return, resulting in lost revenue. Make sure you have a good user experience on all devices by testing your website’s layout and functionality on different device types. Additionally, install an analytics system to continuously collect data about customer behavior and preferences so you can see how your site is performing.

Other design elements to consider include website speed, search options that are easy to use, product descriptions and images that show up clearly on all devices, convenient payment methods, and customer service contact information. It is also important to have clear navigation that helps visitors quickly and easily find what they’re looking for.

eCommerce online stores are always open

Finally, consider adding customer reviews and simplifying the checkout process by including features such as one-click purchases or an “add to cart” button. With a well-built mobile-friendly design in place, you’ll be sure to attract more customers to your ecommerce shop.

Optimize Your Product Pages

Product pages are the most important aspect of an ecommerce business’s website. A well-designed page with compelling product descriptions and photos can help persuade customers to purchase. Utilize images and visuals to feature product details, capturing customer attention and enhancing their shopping experience. Additionally, make sure your pages are written to include targeted keywords that appear in search engine results so you have a better shot at garnering more organic traffic. Finally, include customer reviews for products as research has shown it increases trust among potential buyers.

When visitors land on a product page, it’s important to quickly educate them about the item they are looking at and make it easy to move forward with their purchase. Providing high-resolution images is a great way of doing this. Consider using an interactive photo viewer or an image gallery so customers can get up close and personal with the product they are interested in. Additionally, include relevant product details that customers may be interested in such as size, dimensions, color options, special features, etc., along with an add to cart button that allows them to proceed without interruption. Lastly, consider adding videos and reviews from other customers as these allow potential buyers to form trust and may positively influence their purchasing decision.

Always Focus on Giving Top-Notch Customer Service

Giving customers the best kind of service is key to gaining and retaining customers. Always respond quickly to customer inquiries, or any complaints they may have. To build strong relationships with customers, treat them like individuals not just another sale. You can also use automated appointment reminders for online stores, email campaigns for promotions and discounts, and ensure you meet delivery timelines for orders. Good customer service helps develop your reputation and leads to more sales in the long run.

Utilize Automation and Email Marketing

To maximize the growth of your ecommerce website and generate more revenue, automation and email marketing are two strategy essentials. Automation helps to reduce manual backlogs in order processing, product delivery, customer service and billing operations. Additionally, use automated emails to notify customers when their order is shipped or alert them of any special promotions or discounts to encourage repeat purchases. Email marketing campaigns with personalized content can also help increase user engagement and boost sales. We recommend Mailchimp or Hubspot depending on the shopping cart you’re using.

Re-Engage With Abandoned Shopping Carts

One of the best ecommerce strategies to generate more revenue this year is by re-engaging customers who have abandoned their shopping carts. Use email automation to reach out to customers with personalized messages and incentives, such as discounts or free shipping codes, in order to remind them to complete their purchase. You can also use push notifications on your website or mobile app for a more direct approach. By sending timely reminders and offers, you’ll remind customers why they wanted the product in the first place and give them the extra incentive they need to complete the purchase. Depending on the ecommerce solution you’re using there may be some limitations on apps or extensions that can help you with this.

Web Accessibility: What Is It and Why It Matters

Ensuring that your website is accessible to people with disabilities is essential in today’s digital age. Understanding the basics of web accessibility and ensuring that your site meets established accessibility standards can make a big difference for users, improving their overall experience and helping to increase conversions

What is web accessibility?

Web accessibility, often abbreviated as WAI, refers to making a website easier to use for people with disabilities. This includes people with visual impairments who rely on assistive technologies such as screen readers and those with hearing impairments who may not be able to enjoy certain audio-only content. It also covers users with learning disabilities and physical disabilities that affect their ability to interact with websites using a mouse or keyboard. By adhering to established web accessibility standards, you can ensure everyone can have an equal experience when visiting your website.

Web accessibility concerns not just visual elements, but the underlying code of your website as well. Well-written, semantically correct HTML is key to making your site more accessible. This includes improving page readability by creating good contrast between text and background colors, adding clear labels to forms and inputs, proper headings in HTML documents, and adding text alternatives to images so they can be properly interpreted by assistive technologies.

Who benefits from an accessible website?

Not only does making a website more accessible benefit people with disabilities, but it can also work to your advantage as a business. An accessible site means improved customer service and better user experiences overall. It is estimated that 15% of the world’s population have some sort of disability and thus could benefit from web accessibility. This means that even if your website doesn’t cater specifically to disabled users, making it accessible will still give you access to a larger potential audience. Accessibility also has SEO benefits, since websites with good usability and accessibility tend to rank higher in search engine results pages (SERPs).

Beyond the direct benefits to disabled users, there are other reasons to consider when making a website accessible. Accessible sites also enable users to easily access content from any device. This allows for more consistent experiences across different device types, such as different web browsers, tablets and mobile phones. Furthermore, an accessible site is often easier for other developers to work with and build upon since its structure already meets the guidelines and requirements outlined in Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG). Additionally, making your website increasingly accessible can directly result in positive social media marketing campaigns and will show that your brand or company leads by example when it comes to digital inclusivity.

What are the legal requirements for accessibility?

Web accessibility is largely driven by legal mandates like the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and Section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act. The ADA requires businesses to ensure their products, services, and websites are reasonably accessible to people with disabilities. They must also make sure that no disabled individuals are discriminated against in using their site or services. Organizations failing to meet the legal requirements for website accessibility can face a range of punitive actions from warnings and fines to court orders requiring them to make significant changes in a limited timeframe.

Specifically, Section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act is a law that has been established to ensure that all individuals have equal access to digital technology. When applied to websites, it requires organizations to build sites with accessibility features like text-to-speech capabilities, the ability to navigate with a keyboard instead of a mouse, alternative text for images, adjustable font sizes, and multiple forms of feedback. Additionally, The World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) legislation requires web developers and authors to include certain code in their webpages that makes them more accessible to users with disabilities.

How do I make my website more accessible?

Making your website more accessible is a process that requires time, effort, and expertise. You need to identify any barriers to access, such as low contrast between text and background colors and lack of alternative text for images, and then modify or remove them. Additionally, you need to ensure that all navigational elements can be used with a keyboard instead of a mouse. Furthermore, developing an accessibility statement can help visitors better understand why web accessibility is important to you and how you’re striving to meet their needs.

The best way to ensure you’re making your website more accessible is to use web accessibility guidelines and standards, such as those published by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C). Additionally, consider using an automated tool like WAVE or ARC by TPGi, which can help you easily identify any potential access issues in your existing site and make suitable changes. Finally, always check with other people to make sure that visitors with different abilities can use your website—you may be surprised at what could be improved upon!

How can I test my website for accessibility compliance?

When testing your site for accessibility compliance, you should identify any issues that could be barriers to users with disabilities. This includes elements such as text size, contrast between text and background colors, and navigational elements that are not useable by keyboard only. There are also online tools available to help test the accessibility of your webpages, such as WAVE, ARC by TPGi and the A11Y Project. Additionally, there are guidelines to refer to that outline specifics of different types of disabilities and how they can access websites differently. A very helpful browser extension is the ARC toolkit. You can install the browser extension and scan individual pages for accessibility on demand. If you’re looking for ongoing monitoring TPGi offers a monthly subscription that can monitor all pages of your website accessibility.

Web accessibility testing is an important part of website development, as it ensures that all users, regardless of their abilities, can access the content on your website. By public testing your pages using online tools and guidelines, you will be able to identify any potential issues and make sure that your site meets the requirements for an inclusive design. Additionally, engaging people with disabilities in user testing is a great way to improve the usability of your website for all users.

Top 6 Steps To Follow For Effective Website Development

Building a website looks as simple as setting up WordPress and slapping a theme on it, but in reality it’s much more involved. You need to plan, strategize, and decide how you want the user experience to look like before you can even begin coding. Here are the top 10 steps for successful website development.

Establish Your Goals.

Whether you are building a website for your business or for personal use, it is important to establish your goals before getting started. Ask yourself questions such as what do I want my users to do on this website? How do I want the user experience to look? What tangible results should the website generate? Answering these questions will help guide you through the development process and enable you to create an effective website.

Research Your Audience and Competition.

Understanding your target audience and competitors is a crucial step for effective website development. Spend time researching current trends, understanding user behaviors, and exploring the competition’s website design, look and feel, content, engagement techniques and more. Having this knowledge will help you build a website that is tailored to your audience’s needs and one that stands out from the competition.

Design a Relevant Website Structure and Navigation Plan.

The website structure should make sense for your target audience and create a great experience for them. Designing relevant navigation paths will ensure users can find what they’re looking for quickly and easily, making the user experience much more enjoyable. Identifying popular pages and key content needs from both a user and SEO perspective is important when designing the website structure to ensure all user journeys are catered to and that discovery of key pages maximizes opportunities to rank in search engine result pages (SERPs).

Develop a Responsive Web Design.

Responsive web design (RWD) is rapidly becoming an absolute necessity for businesses who want a professional website that caters to all devices. With millions of users browsing the internet on their phones, tables and other mobile devices, having a mobile-friendly version of your website is key to providing a seamless user experience. RWD ensures that your website scales to the size of the device being used and provides users with an optimal viewing experience. Designing a responsive website also helps reduce errors and improves page speed which can lead to higher rankings and happier customers.

Take into Account Speed for Performance And Usability.

Speed is critical when it comes to web development. A user’s attention span is short and they expect websites to load quickly. Taking into account speed involves optimizing your website for performance and usability. Performance optimization focuses on reducing the amount of code used so that it doesn’t take too long to render the page. Meanwhile, with usability optimizations, you can improve user experience by structuring your site elements in a logical order, enabling efficient navigation and allowing users to find what they need quickly and easily.
